Heavy-Duty
PRAB Systems are built tough to withstand the harsh conditions and materials moved in the metalworking industry.
Value
  • Reclaim up to 98% of cutting fluids for recycling and reuse
  • Significantly reduce haul-away and disposal costs
  • Get more value from dry chips

Industrial centrifuge designed for effectively separating metal chips from cutting fluids.

The PRAB Metal Chip Wringer/Centrifuge uses 600G’s of centrifugal force to spin fluid from metal chips. This process is the most cost-effective solution for producing dry metal chips—which are more valuable to the scrap dealer. Wringers also help to reclaim up to 98% of spent cutting fluid for recycling and reuse.

Metal chip wringers/centrifuges handle various types of metal scrap, including aluminum, brass, cast iron, steel, stainless steel, and more.

Advantages of a PRAB Wringer/Industrial Centrifuge include:

  • Reclaim up to 98% of cutting fluids for recycling and reuse
  • Significantly reduce haul-away and disposal costs
  • Get more value from dry chips
  • Minimize maintenance and downtime with exclusive reversing feature (CD models only)
  • Exclusive “self-cleaning” wedge wire design
  • Indexing liner feature extends the life of both screen and liner assemblies
  • Externally mounted drive and grease components for ease of service
  • Easy front and rear access ports for inspection and service
  • Auto lube systems for automatic greasing of bearings.

Image Right: Auto lube systems are designed to automatically supply a small quantity of clean grease or oil to bearings on a regular basis-improving bearing performance and eliminating maintenance required for manual greasing.

Pneumatic Discharge (AD Series)

The Pneumatic/Air Discharge (AD Series) Chip Wringer is a scrap collection system available in 24” and 40” screen diameters. This scrap metal equipment is capable of pneumatically propelling chips up to 100 ft (30 m). Models include 24AD and 40AD.

Gravity Discharge (CD Series)

Conventional gravity discharge (CD Series) models are available in 16”, 24” and 40” screen diameters (models 16CD, 24CD and 40CD). The conventional gravity discharge (CD) model of PRAB Wringers/Centrifuges utilizes an exclusive reversing feature to extend service life and minimize maintenance. When service is needed for wear items (such as the screen and bowl) they are easy to access and replace. Liner has an exclusive “indexing feature” which extends the service life of both the liner and screen assemblies.

Model 16CD

The Model 16CD Chip Wringer is a scrap metal equipment component that is part of the E-Series Chip Processing System. This metal chip separator is built to process low to medium volumes of wet machining scrap.

The rotating bowl of the chip wringer creates enough centrifugal force for solid/liquid separation. Fluids are then extracted through the bar screen and stored for reuse.

Chip Wringer Operation

PRAB Diagonal Shaft Wringer System Operation Explanation

Wringer pulls up to 900 g-force and produces 98% dry chips. Chips are discharged from the PRAB Wringer into a PRAB Drag Conveyor.

This is the PRAB Diagonal Shaft Wringer System. As I mentioned, chips and coolant will enter into the main housing of Chip Wringer and the Chip Wringer will remove the coolant from the chips by centrifugal force. We are polling as much as 900 g’s force on the material to remove the coolant from the chips. You’ll notice on this chip wringer it is a horizontal mount. In that the shaft runs horizontally, two bearings on each end very easily accessible. Access to the wringer is very simply in that you can just open these wing nuts and open the unit up and expose the inside. It’s easily maintained. Easily serviced. There are two points of discharge on the PRAB Horizontal Chip Wringer. The first being, chips only discharge into this Drag Conveyor, as you see here. Coolant on the other hand, discharges out of the bottom and into this fluid recovery tank.

Wear Abatement Strategies Save Money – Product Machining

The metalworking industry, like many other manufacturing market segments, has been forced to scrutinize capital equipment purchases in an effort to squeeze the most from a tight capital project budget with short expected returns. Often, pre-project planning and equipment evaluation do not take into account the long-term operational effects of rugged operating conditions, faster machining times, material alloys with challenging […]
