PRAB Candle Filters — Precision Filtration for Cutting & Grinding Fluids

What Is a Candle Filter?

A candle filter is a membrane-based fluid filtration system engineered to remove fine particulate contaminants from industrial fluids such as spent oils, coolants, and machining lubricants. Unlike traditional disposable media, PRAB’s candle filters use high-performance membrane wafers to reliably capture solids at 1–3 microns, improving fluid quality and enabling recycle and reuse in precision metalworking applications.

Why Choose PRAB Candle Filters?

PRAB Candle Filters are designed to deliver high-clarity fluid filtration, low maintenance, and industry-leading uptime for demanding manufacturing environments. These systems integrate advanced membrane media and automatic self-cleaning technology to keep your operations running efficiently with minimal operator intervention.

Key Benefits

  • High-Resolution Filtration: Captures fine particulates down to 1–3 microns, resulting in clearer, reusable fluid.
  • Self-Cleaning Performance: Air-driven backwash automatically flushes debris, eliminating the need for frequent manual cleaning.
  • Reduced Downtime: Designed for reliability under high-production loads with virtually no maintenance interruptions.
  • Improved Fluid Life: Cleaner fluids extend coolant and oil life, reduce disposal frequency, and lower replacement costs.
  • Simplified Swarf Handling: Automatically purges captured solids to an external receptacle, simplifying recycling and disposal.

Applicable Scope:

  • Tungsten carbide tool grinder
  • Electronic discharge machining
  • Honing
  • Ball bearing grinding

Maximum permissible oil viscosity:

  • Grinding – under 45 SUS (100°F, 37.8°C)
  • EDM – under 37 SUS (73°F, 33.8°C)
  • Filter precision: Down to 1-3 micron
