Stamping & Die Casting | PRAB

If you are metalforming, PRAB can help find, and build, the right system for your process. Starting with a full-line of conveyors, PRAB scrap handling systems quickly and automatically remove die scrap metal, stamping scrap and various other metal scrap waste away from the point of production, automating the scrap handling process. Removing metal waste and spent fluids away from core operations allows for optimum production cycles, longer run times, increased worker safety, improved housekeeping and less fork lift traffic.

PRAB also offers a full-line of fluid filtration and industrial wastewater treatment systems for mitigating the safety and regulatory risks involved with some fluids used in stamping and die casting.

Die castings are not hazardous waste, as are some toxic non-metallics. However, the water used in this process to cool and carry lubricants to their metal casting dies, may drip onto the plant floor. This wastewater may consist of various oils, hydrocarbons, heavy metals and silicones that make it unsuitable for discharge to a sewer. Using a PRAB on-site recycling process can reduce waste generation by as much as 90%. In addition, because the process retains and concentrates larger oil and dirt particles in the tank, the unconsumed active ingredients in the chemistry can be reused many times, reducing chemical usage by as much as 85%.

Stamping operations are required to comply with a number of regulations relating to the collection, transport, treatment, and disposal of the wastes they generate. A PRAB recycling unit can be used on the pressroom floor to treat water-based fluids such as aqueous cleaner baths, mass finishing fluids, press water, mop water, and synthetic coolants. Soils that reduce the useful life of the fluids can be filtered and collected to improve the cleaning capability of the equipment and the efficiency of the vibratory media or coolant.
