PRAB to Feature Dry Briquetting System and Filtration Systems at IMTS 2010

PRAB will feature a chip processing system custom designed for on-site remelting of aluminum briquettes in booth E-5715 at IMTS 2010.

The system employs a model 24 CD diagonal-shaft wringer to remove water-soluble coolant from chips before they are sent to PRAB’s model MX35-40 Dualpak™ briquetter, resulting in a dry briquette suitable for remelt. The system is engineered to produce 3.5 in (89 mm) diameter briquettes at a rate of 600 lb/hr (272 kg/hr). Additional equipment in the system includes a  twin 12 in (305 mm) diameter screw conveyor with an 8 yd3 receiving hopper; 2.5-inch pitch steel belt conveyor; tramp metal separator; and 150 gal (568 l) settling tank with fines drag out conveyor.

In addition to the dry briquetting system, PRAB will showcase filtration solutions focused on:

• reducing labor costs and improve machinist productivity;
• reclaiming and recycling expensive coolants and cutting fluids;
• improving housekeeping and compliance to environmental rules and regulations; and
• enhancing the work environment and employee health and safety.
