Prab Provides A Unique Solution To Gap Press Scrap Removal
June 17, 2003 The reinforced base of this particular gap press prevented the installation of a standard magnetic conveyor which the customer needed to be inserted and removed easily during press servicing and maintenance. Prab's solution was to use a pneumatic tilt mechanism on a mobile conveyor base. Once elevated, the conveyor easily slipped into the press over the obstruction, with the base sliding under the obstruction - installation and/or removal taking less than a minute. The conveyor was one of Prab's standard heavy-duty magnetic models which featured sealed self-lubrication and a stainless steel friction bed. These conveyors are available in many configurations and widths and a choice or standard ceramic or rare earth magnets. Prab also manufactures a line of low profile magnetic conveyors that can be slid under many presses as a single unit along with steel belt, pivot belt and scrap processing equipment.
